Brand Design Intern Position
(Remote & For Credit Only)
About the Role
We are looking for a Brand Design Intern to work directly with our Creative Director, helping create designs that support our consultancy’s brand and content. This internship offers hands-on experience in transforming creative concepts into effective visual solutions across various projects. You’ll work on design projects for our podcast, social media, website, and internal materials, gaining practical skills beyond classroom assignments. You'll also learn the nuances of professional design workflows and develop a critical eye for creating designs that are both beautiful and functional.
What You’ll Do:
IConduct design research and competitive analysis to guide creative direction across projects.
Create visually engaging marketing materials, including blog posts, website content, social media posts, and email campaigns.
Design a wide range of assets, including logos, visual identities, app interfaces, websites, social media graphics, and packaging.
Own design projects from concept to final execution, ensuring alignment with brand strategy and high-quality outcomes.
Manage multiple design tasks simultaneously, delivering exceptional work on time.
Contribute to compelling case studies and thought leadership content for the Afternoon Culture website and other platforms.
Stay current with design trends and provide fresh insights to trend reports.
Assist in developing creative content for the launch of our podcast, aligning with Afternoon Culture’s brand identity.
Support the Creative Director with presentations, mockups, and templates for brand identity and strategy projects.
What We Require:
Must be a junior or senior pursuing a degree in graphic design or a related field, with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
A portfolio that demonstrates creativity and growth, with experience in brand design, typography, layout design & content creation.
Familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Figma.
After Effects & Motion Design a plus.
Squarepace & Webflow knowledge a plus.
A passion for creating culturally-relevant work and an awareness of global trends and diverse perspectives.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently while being open to feedback and collaboration.
Comfortable using Notion and Slack for team communication and project management.
A willingness to learn and a drive to contribute to Afternoon Culture’s values and mission.
Internship Details:
You’ll work 12-15 hours per week, with virtual meetings via Zoom. This is an unpaid internship that must be taken for school credit.
At Afternoon Culture, you’ll receive hands-on learning and mentorship from our Creative Director. You’ll gain practical design experience, receive feedback on your work, and participate in portfolio reviews to refine your skills. You’ll work on live projects and gain exposure to brand design best practices in a one-on-one, mentorship-driven environment.
